4 Aquatic Activities In Delray Beach | Delray Beach Activities

Much like its name implies, Delray Beach is very much a waterfront town. With many high-value homes, townhomes, and condos residing directly on or adjacent to our beautiful beaches, the water is never far from the minds of Delray Beach residents.

Take A Voyage On The Lady Atlantic

If you've ever crossed the drawbridge on Atlantic Avenue, you'll likely have seen the Lady Atlantic. A ballroom on the water, the Lady Atlantic takes you through the Intracoastal - giving a full view of both the natural splendor of Delray Beach and the incredible manses that line the waterways as you sip some champagne and soak in the cool air.

Lay Out At Atlantic Dunes Park

Located at the southern end of Delray Beach, where Highland turns to Delray proper, Atlantic Dunes Park is the designated beachfront for folks looking to take it all in a few steps away from Atlantic Avenue. At Atlantic Dunes Park, avoid the bustle of the Atlantic Ave spillover, and, dare we say it, some of the younger, rowdier crowds who may be on break and won't venture far from the Ave.

take the family to Gulfstream Park

Gulfstream Park sits at the precipice of Boynton Beach and Delray Beach. This family-friendly park is the other flank on the north end of Delray Beach, whereas Atlantic Dunes Park is southern. For families, namely, those looking for a bit more to do aside from layout and soak up the salt spray, Gulfstream Park affords the types of amenities one would expect from public beachfront. With 600 feet of lifeguard-manned beachfront, a playground, grills, benches, and public showers, Gulfstream Park is everything you'd want for folks of all ages.

Visit The Sandoway Discovery Center

Much like Larry Bird's hometown of French Lick, Indiana, if you blink you might miss it! Tucked just behind a few feet of the open yard on the southern tip of Delray Beach, this A1A based nature center has been a field trip favorite for many years. Established in a classic Delray Beach cottage built in 1936, the Sandoway Discovery Center is a prominent feature for those curious about our delicate oceanic ecosystem. The Sandoway Center features the largest private shell collection in Southeast Florida (which is saying A LOT), a coral pool with rays and sharks, and a native plant and butterfly garden. For students, families, or even the curious traveler, the Sandoway Center will bring you up close with our natural world, and the shared goal to preserve our beautiful outdoors.
