Where To Find The Best Tasting Tacos In Delray Beach
Sometimes you need a little pick-me-up. That might come in the form of cupcakes, or pizza, or ice cream. We choose tacos, the official dish of Tuesday nights. With farms in Central Florida and deep sea fishing 5 miles off the coast, few regions can boast the freshest tacos outside of Mexico. Here are our four picks for the best tacos in Delray.
Rocco's Tacos & Tequila Bar
110 E. Atlantic Ave, Delray Beach, FL 33444
The Delray Beach outpost of the popular franchise, Rocco’s Tacos is known for its bar and nightlife scene. Come for the tacos and stay for the drinks, or vice versa. Rocco’s is one of the anchor businesses on Atlantic Avenue that have helped turn our once sleepy seaside hamlet into a nightlife destination that rivals that of Fort Lauderdale and West Palm Beach. Definitely order a Modelo and plate of California Fish Tacos. They were probably fished yesterday off the coast of Bimini, not Baja, but who’s complaining?
El Camino
15 NE 2nd Ave, Delray Beach, FL 33444
El Camino is a proudly Mexican restaurant that blends the artistry of its ancestral homeland with a modern bar and dining experience. El Camino is the perfect place to blow off some steam after a long day at work or take a first date for drinks and an app. Despite the cool digs, the cooks at El Camino never skim on the portions, as even 2 or 3 tacos can fill up a full grown man (along with a hearty side of rice and beans). Whether it’s pork belly, carne asada, or crispy fish tacos, you can’t go wrong! Special mention to the brisket quesadilla.
Taqueria Huetamo
1499 S. Congress Ave, Delray Beach, FL 33445
For those who relish a good hole-in-the-wall, head over to Taqueria Huetamo. There you’ll find large portions and neighborhood pricing that is easy on the wallet while filling the stomach. Definitely not a romantic getaway (unless you both love Diners, Drive-Ins & Dives), we recommend this place if you’re looking for a decent taco and have a group to feed. The only thing we’re not a fan of is the 9:00 pm closing time. A taco from Taqueria Huetamo would be perfect at midnight.
Zona Fresca
1705 S. Federal Hwy, Ste A-1 Delray Beach, FL 33483
Zona Fresca may be a chain, but when they say eat local, they’re talking about Zona Fresca. Made with all the love of a home kitchen, Zona Fresca opened its first location in Fort Lauderdale in 1996. Since then, they have grown into a fast-casual space with 7 locations that can exceed the quality of notable heavyweights like Pollo Tropical. Don’t get us wrong, we LOVE our Pollo, but Zona Fresca is quintessentially Mexican with consistency in their kitchen that many restaurants have a hard time maintaining. We recommend everything on the menu, which is always fresh, especially their opened face-undeniably-authentic Zona Street Tacos and regular soft shell corn tortilla tacos (starting at an incredibly low $3.00/each).
